farmers around here tried 66" wide flotation tires with tractor lugs here in south louisiana in sandy soil it works well but in clay it's no good, around here you have some farms with sandy loam and bottoms with clay so we just stick with the r2s 35.5-32 or the 900s good luck, starting to harvest ratoon rice crop that's a second cutting of the original rice crop harvested 8_12_04 it's almost always in the mud just recieved 8" of rain 11_2_04 water still draining out of fields but can't wait it's cold here 48 degrees this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happened that the floation tires did not work on clay groundIJ Also farm rice and looking for something better than 30.5's.

In clay lugs even though not deep they won't clean out and makes a big slick depending on your soil we've found the 35.5-32r2 or the 900-32r2metric good years If you have bad gumbo land black-red clay with no bottom rubber track are the only deal

Case IH also offers the 68-50x32 logger tires as an option on their combines starting with I think the 2100 series. I'd like to have a pair on our 2366 to finish harvest with but I think they'd be too wide to work very well behind a 6 row head plus they have to be pretty expensive and we are already in the process of adding a Mud Hog which is expensive enough. I think having the 50" logger tires on the front with 23.1x26 rice tires on the rear would make a good combination but if a person is going to spend that much money he may be better off just to buy a set of rubber tracks.

I would defiantly go with the 68x50.00-32 or the 76x50.00-32 Flotation tires. I do believe the 68 fit on the 1600 series better then the 76 (OD restriction based on sheet metal). Based on field test data I would not consider the tracks unless you have to stay extremely narrow and have a lot of extra money to spend on maintenance. The tracks end up digging up the field more then flotation tires. Yes both options are more expensive then duals, but the flotation tires are cheaper to operate.

Just installed 1050_50R32 (Michelin floatation) on both my 2188s this fall. Used the oringinal rims, got them widened by 8 inchs and then put 1_2 inch thick gussets to support the extra width. Used 5 gussets. Really happy with the extra floatation. Dan
