Combines leaves plugging corn head

Rod I've had the same problem a few times, make sure the auger is adjusted properly, down low and towards the rear of the header near the stripper bar. Deere also has a wedge kit available for the feeder house opening, it levels the header a bit letting it feed better, you can also line the lugs on the gathering chains or deere has a kit to extend the lugs, which i have used and they seem to help quite a bit. I can get part numbers if you need them. goodluck AZCUTTER

I welded expanded metal on the center of the auger. It seems to be more aggressive.

We just drive lock washers on the auger flighting every 2 foot or so. It is just enough to move the trash on and keep it from plugging. Works amazingingly well for something so simple.

Interesting. Do you have them protruding out beyond the edge of the flighting (parallel with the flighting) or are they at an angleIJ

I put the lugs on the on the gathering chains on all 6 rows on a 693 plastic head . I could not get fodder to build up by the auger at all . Now i can run 5 mph all the time. I think it cost 300.00 for the kit and takes 3 hrs to install. And keep the lugs offset.

We just put the split in the lock washer over the flighting and drive the lock washer onto the flighting as far as it will go. Doesn't sound like it would work since it is so simpple, but has worked for years for us. We always fight dry trashy conditions. Questions give me a call 217-395-2300

Thanks for all replys. I have done all that you've suggested and still problems. I made up a peaked extension that screws to to top of flat section on the rear of the snoop. It stops leaves, storks and cobs from laying on the flat section eventually letting more material lay on top - causing a block. This helps but is not the total answer. Crop is very dry (9%) and the top 3' of the plant just breaks off. This causes the main problem along with all the leaves. When you get into a bit greener crop there is no problems. A shower of rain would make things a lot better!!!
