Combines lexion 460R 470

first off are you under the impression that a lexion is a full rotor machineIJ if so that is incorrect! they are a conventional machine with rotors for separation only! not threshing! yes the 470 and 460 both have 3126 engines however the 470's in my opinion were a little short on power but they are easy enough to turn up! the 460 was not as short on power as they are not a rotor but a walker machine. not really any big problems with the 480s or 470s in my area! i couldn't say what the best area is to find a used one and i also couldn't help you with a price either i just know as of late the lexions are worth considerably less then a similarly equipt JD or Case when you go to auctions!

Try the eastern colorado_western kansas market. One of my neighbors was trying to trade 480's for green ones. The dealer offered him $30000 each. Seems pretty cheap to me.

If 480s are going that cheap in your area, buy them all and truck them up to North Dakota I gaurantee you will be a rich man. Used 480s around hear are going for 160,000-180,000 dollars. Show me where their are a few for 30,000 I will buy them myself and sell them to my neighbors. Around here the cats are making the deeres look like toys. Maybe you seen one that has been out picking rocks or might have been in a fire. I could see 30,000 then. But for one in good shape--"no way"!!!!!!!

1. The 460R, 470_470R and the 480_480R are combines with a conventional cylinder for threshing and rotors for separating instead of walkers. (like a JD CTS) 2. The 460R and the 470R have wire concaves and wire rotor grades. The old 470,480_480R have the old style metal press concave and rotor grades. 3. The 460R and 470_470R are narrow body machines, versus the 480 and the 460 walker are wide body machines. That makes a big difference in shoe capacity. 4. The 460R still sports the fuel efficient 3126 CAT with 290HP, just like the old 480. The newer 470R has a C9 powerplant with 340HP. The 460R is not capable of pushing a 12row cornhead, due to a lighter front axle. 5. Before buying a lexion make sure to demo one in your conditions and see that you really like what it is doing. Reported auction prices have been less than half of competitive machines.

first off the old 480's never had a 3126 get your facts straight they have always had a 3176 and now a 3196. and saying a 460 will not handle a 12 because the front axle is lighter is also BS the 460 and 480 front ends are exactly the same and you have a selection of final drives to meet the needs of a 12 row or a smaller head!!

I hate to admit Dakota is somewhat right on this one. The 460R will not handle the 12 row corn head. But the 460 will. lexion really screwed up when they numbered these combines. A 460R is a class 6 cylinder_rotor machine. A 460 is a class 6 cylinder_walker machine. The nembering system is like JDs 9650 and 9650CTS and 9650STS. All of them have the same number but are three totaly diferent combines. ps justapurrin is right on the engine though. The old 480 had a 3176 and now the 480R has a C-12

Okay, one for me and one for you. It's the old 470 having the CAT 3126 (the 7 and 8 is close on the keyboard). But it is still true that the 460R (the emphasis is on R, please read closely) is not capable of carrying a 12row cornhead according to Claas factory people.
