Poooooooor crops! Only 100 seperator hours put on it last year, and anticipate less than 20 this year. A big machine like this deserves a better home! I hate to part with it but the payments haven't stopped! It is next to new if you are interested, send me an email address and I can send some photos to you.

Updayed rotor to a rodono with double knives and hammers - their knives are twice the weight and thickness of the original Claas ones. Also Installed Cat's updated chopper drive kit for their Redekop version finecut widespread that was trailed last year, offered this year - this gave us another 500 rpm. Would spread 40+ feet if we wanted it to!

Did you actually have Cat's new chopper or just the drive kit with an aftermarket drum installed in the current chopper housingIJ I have never heard of "rodonoIJ" With the heavier knives and "aftermarket drum," did you experience any abnormal wear or vibration from the chopper drum, bearings or new chopper drive kitIJ

We did not want ot spend the $3500 the dealer required (Cat paid the other half) to go with Cat's chopper. Instead, Rodono Industries out of Clive, AB installed their tabs and blades (much heavier and longer than the Claas ones)on the original rotor. They were quite surprised with how heavy the tube already was, and with how well it balanced. German quality!!! We also doubled the knives and hammers, all for less than half the cost of the new chopper. As it turns out, we would not have had to add Cat's newer drive setup (500 rpm more) as the inertia from the heavier blades was more than enough. We had friends with the new CAT (redekop fine cut wide spread),and we probably had a finer cut and almost as wide of spread, still utilizing the CAT original chopper body.

Would keep up yes... but walker losses were the limiting factor. once we changed beaters, cylinders, added walker retarders and risers, the losses were more than respectable for a walker machine. We would challenge any Deere 9650 wlker any day of the week. The 480 has superior seperating ability in dry or tough conditions alike.

Curious about the chopper kit out of Rodono in Clive ,. Have a 470 seem to get an excellant chop ie fine enough but it only spreads it about 15' .In observing the combine from the the side the straw seems to get thrown back about 20' before it hits the ground but the spread width is badly lacking.Would klike more feedback. My observation on the Redekop system is that it takes a lot of hp.
