Combines lexions at auctions

56,000 was plenty for that perticular combine!!!! best as i can figure it he gave 40,000 for the head and 16,000 for the machine!! and it was a catarpillar finance repo machine!!

Judging by the name on the tail you should know!! or is that just a coincidenceIJ I thought it was heavy too as Cat only had it listed @ $54,750 before the sale!

why yes as a matter of fact i know the owner of this particula machine and he is quite hard on things, that is why this machine isn't worth much in my opinion!!!

I wonder where the price of pre-owned lexions will settle or are for that matter. We are located in Central Canada and had previously owned both JD and NH conventionals. Prior to our purchase of the two 480's, we always had JD, Case or NH at the farm wanting our combine business. This has not been the case since the lexions arrived. While we are not unhappy with the 480's, it appears that our local dealers NH, Deere and CIH are not at all keen to consider these units on trade. We have made overtures to two brands that we would like to trade, as we usually keep combines two years, about 500 hours and then upgrade. The only dealer that was kind enough to at least talk to us was a large NH dealer in western Manitoba who would not be an option as we are committed to deal as close to home as possible. The cost to trade with the folks at Cat is certainly a lot more than our neighbours are trading for on same year, equal hour, equal option,equal brand and I'm hoping that we have not painted ourselves into a corner where it will cost us a whole bunch if we choose to make a move. The folks at Cat have been good to us but we also have a very good working relationship with the other three dealers in town. I'm just a little concerned that the real values of the lexions are far less that I would have expected. Any thoughtsIJ By the way, great forum, great folks. Happy New Year.

Are you positive on the dollars your neighbors are trading forIJ We just traded our 480 onto a 480R and felt that the cost per separator hour was very reasonable, especially when you consider the size of the machine. There was a guy on the deere site that had just been quoted a price of about $115-120_sep hr (cdn) on a 9660sts, it cost us more to move up but not much, and if you worked out the cost per acre then the lexion is the better value; class 6 vs. 8. We're located in SW Manitoba, how do you like KramerIJ

Actually I am quite certain of the difference that my neighbour(s) are paying as one of them is my brother-in-law and the other is my father. As far as the class of combine and the perceived extra value or cost per acre, I don't think we saw that value in our combines the last two seasons as that CX 840 wasn't all that far behind us in any of the fields that we shared and it was pushing a 36' Honey-Bee as well. As far as Kramers are concerned we found them to be expensive but competent. Most of the issues we had were not considered warrantable as we thought they should be however, they were to small to be a complaining customer about in case it had a reflection on future dealings. I'm just a little concerned that the other dealers aren't real keen on taking a lexion and I guess I understand that there may be a limited market for a pre-owned lexion given the fact that there are no dealers or parts sources other than Kramer. We simply overlooked this reality when we purchased and although I really don't care to admit the fact, I'm coming to realize that sooner or later we are likely to have to pay. like it or not, dealer proximity is a value. ( Good ones that is. ) Happy New Year

Oh, I see !! Demoed a CX two years ago, nice machine, big improvement over the TX. Good luck in your dealing.
