bolt on a drag chain, might save you a lot of money and time. Some guys swear it keeps dirt off the windows better..

Not sure about lightning hitting a combine, but I remember when I was a kid our 2670 Case getting hit. Insurance bought 8 new tires cause the lightning put about a million pin holes in them.

My dad had a 860 hit , the electricity from the strike burn just about every wire and electric component on the combine we had to replace every thing!! Also the right front tire was off the bead and flat. The location that the combine was contacted by lightning was the clean grain elevator.

neighbor had a 2166 out overnight during wheat harvest. lightening apparently hit the radio antenna. It destroyed cab electrical system. Took the tech a long time to get unloader swing to function properly. It was insured so they replaced all the wiring, etc. to make sure they had their bases covered.

A few years ago my neighbor had an almost new IH struck by lightning. I don't think it did much to the combine, but both front tires went flat, they both had several pin holes burned in them. They were replaced by a local tire dealer. The dealer had them for sale 100% tread 30.5x32 $300 for a couple years. I don't know if he ever sold them. When I see my neighbor I will get him to refresh my memory. Insurance did pay for them.
