Gleaner did make a 6-30 head for the F series. If it is a 1982 (serial number 10000 or newer with black, white and red or green stripe) you can get the lM hook up and drive system for it. I don't know about the older black heads with the square AC decal. It better be a real good head and cheap. You should be able to get the parts you need from a salvaged head.

Have a 4-30 head can strip for parts for lM now. But am going to measure shafts for drives as I think mine are to short. Define cheap.

If both heads are serial n 10,001 and up the two splined drive shafts may be the only major parts you will need. Your operator's manual should have several pictures of the drive systems. As far as cheap if the head is in good shape $2000 would be good price to work with. If you have to buy several parts to convert to a l hookup you could get a lot of money in the head. Around here a good A6-30 for a l will bring $3000 to $3500. Good luck with your project. I am getting ready to convert a DA 8-30 that is set up for a l to a 6-30. No body wants a 8 row head for a l around here.

Just let mine go for 1100 and it was in EXCEllENT shape. Market has plummetted the last couple of years here as most are going for 1000-1500. I only paid 1500 for it so i guess for 4 years and 2 little breakdowns i came out ok. If you need the sprockets and chains for the hook ups shoot me an email. Also, i've got 4 flat idlers i'd sell too. bclark@oneok.com
