my load meter is a dial with no numbers. it has been set when i got it with the red mark straight up and down. which is the middle of the dial.

That does sound high for dry corn. The only time in corn mine goes past 11:00 o'clock is high % corn or lots of wet trash. Maybe soft ground is the reason. The red mark is movable. Mine is set at 2:00 o'clock.

our 1680 is set about 2 o-clock and we run it there most of the time

i may be ok. cause the load neddle is running at two oclock. maybe the red mark has been moved from original setting. thank you for the help.

Dad has 1660 with some of the '66 updates built in or he has put in himself. He runs it about the 3 o'clock. When I was running it couple weeks ago, I could get the power needle to peg out about the 5 o'clock spot if I was putting the unload auger out and running about 4 mph in 180 bu corn at 19%. But he also has a 10 row 22" 800 series corn head on the front so that takes a little extra power to run.
