Combines loewen concaves in STS

Barrington Harvesting of Alex, Oklahoma ran loewen Helicals in 6 of their 12 STS machines last year, as a test. They told me that the Helical equipped machines could start sooner in the morning and run later at night due to the fact they were able to run wider concave settings, less power required. They were also able to, in many cases, run without concave cover strips due to the more agressive threshing action of the Helical Concave. Peas should not be a problem. The wires on the narrow space helical are 5_16" apart, peas should be no problem. I have one in the front concave in my own 9750 STS, due to the crazy year we haven't turned a wheel yet. If you give me your email address I'll send you some pictures.

First thing you'll notice is loewens are about 50% heavier than JD concaves and price is about the same. I'm just finishing up lentils and they seem to work fine. With durum I still put concave covers on middle concave, holes are predrilled to bolt deere brackets on. I was able to run with more clearance like other post states. If you need concaves anyway go for it. If nothing else they'll be more durable.
