The shorter, segmented and staggered rasp bar design that you see Case and JD use provide greater agitation of the crop mat compared to a continuous long bar design on those machines, enhancing separation. In the case of the Massey, the long continuous bar would seem to provide better threshing performance than a staggered configuration, which the JD and Case Specialty rotor can struggle with, and the Massey uses the rotor knives to provide the advantages of crop agitation_separation, so the MF actually would seem to have the best of both worlds.
