Combines looking at Used Corn Heads

look at stalk rolls. If flutes are badly worn they will need replacing or need to be rebuilt. We have had excellent results with having them rebuilt. A real cost savings at $35 a roll compared to $75 for a new roll. Gathering chains and sprockets need to be looked at. Also look for wear on chain guides and deck plates. Also if this is an early 643 that does not have hex shafts on the upper gathering chain drive. Bushings and shaft wear here can be expensive to fix. Usually we stick between $1500 and $3500 in rebuilds on corn heads depending upon condition.

I've got a 643 low tin,(not oil bath) that i don't need anymore.Dealer offered me a new Gator for it, guess i should probably trade, wouldn't have to pay income tax on the sale then.
