We run the 25' heads because we can get to all the fields but one with the heads on. That's a real time saver for us. We keep the knife and guards in good shape, and they will usually cut wheat straw with the hydro maxed out in second gear. It's rare that the machine will not be loaded at that speed. I'm sure the 30' would be better, but I just can't justify the hassel of using trailers all the time. Plus, the shop door is only 30' wide, and we like to run them in if it's raining. We have a '90 model 1010 in perfect condition except the pickup reel is worn and the plastic shields on each end have seen better days. If you put a bat reel on it, it would be ready for the field. The problem is, I can't find a newer header with a pickup reel that is worth the money. If I could, I would be interested in selling ours. let me know if that sounds interesting at all. The header is in SCKS also. Mike
