Combines looking for a new combine

i haven't heard of any problems with the 8780. IF at any way possible i would go for the XP version just because of newer and would ahve more features in it. i would think it would beat your 2 combines but it all depends oh what size of heads u run on themIJ what crops do u run with your 860sIJ the XP would have 285 horse power i know the regualr 8780 has bout 260 with out bulge i'd say 2188 right in line with that. massey rotors are ran by hydralic instead of belts so it is MUCH simpler there and easier to unplug too, but we never have plugged our rotor on our 8570 since the 93 crop so most likely u won't need it.

Hello SD boy,go with the 8780,it is a very impresive combine.Try to get an XP and if this is to much make sure to get one with the constant speed rotor.Nothing wrong with a 2188 but it can't keep up with a 8780.You will easily outdo your other two combines.I am currently running two 865 Massey combines and my dealer brought me a demo for the day and set it up the proper way and it is hard to believe how much this combine can chew and do a excellent job of thrashing.

We have 24 foot straight heads and 8 row narrow corn head. We do 40 bushel wheat and 100-120 bushel corn. Is it possible to get an adapter to hook that corn head to the rotorIJ Also, we raise sunflowers and any experience with them in the rotor would also be appreciated. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

I run a 8570 with a 24' head. I'd rather have a 30' head in 30-40 bu wheat. The limiting factor is a comfortable ground speed with a 24'. The 24' works great in our irragated wheat making 80-100bu wheat. I run a 6 row corn head in 175-200bu corn at 4 mph and the header cannot run the combine to capisity, after 4mph I plug up the corn head.

i thought the 2188 had better grain quality than the massey 8780 but the massey had a bit more capacity
