Well, since you have gotten nothing I'll add what little I know. The SDX has larger opener disc, 22" in think, it is heavier than the JD, the SDX uses springs for downpressure which is adjusted at each opener. The JD has active hydraulic downpressure with one adjustment, but requires constants hyd. pressure from tractor. The SDX uses the same gage wheel tire as the CIH planters and claims this reduces sidewall compaction. The seed boot on the CIH is very simple, the JD has a fancy cast unit. Which is best, don't know. I know the JD work well in most conditions. The CIH is very similar, but I have no personal knowledge of how it works in various conditions. I suspect both will hairpin heavy cereal straw if the soil is soft. HTH
