Combines looking for new combine

I switched from an M3 to a 1460 in 2000, for about the same reason. The 1460 has a lot more capacity. The controls aren't as nice as an M3. I haven't had much problem with the 1460, yet. It doesn't like green stem beans at all. You can't get as much air to the sieves like a Gleaner. The bottom sieve is harder to remove, and get to to set. I've got a good IH dealer that has been helpful, to speed up the learning curve. This site is also very helpful. I like the fact as you rebuild you are also updating. A lot of the parts on a new combine will go on the older ones too.

ONE MAJOR ADVANTAGE YOU WIll FIND OVER YOUR GlEANER IS THE SIMPlICITY OF RED COMBINES. THERE ARE FAR FEWER MOVING PARTS, WHICH MEANS YOU WIll GREASE WAY lESS ZERKS EVERYDAY,(lIKE lESS THAN 10). PlUS IT DOES A TERRIFIC JOB SEPERATING AND ClEANING. ONE DISSADVANTAGE IS THAT THEY ARE A lITTlE SHORT ON CAPACITY FOR EACH ClASS COMPARED TO JOHN DEERE, AND THEIR CORN HEADS DO AGREAT JOB ON STAlKS, BUT THEY ARE DIFFICUlT TO WORK ON. THE PlATFORMS HOWEVER DO A GREAT JOB. ANOTHER DISSADVANTAGE TO A ROTOR COMBINE IS THAT IT CHEWS UP STRAW MAKING IT DIFFICUlT TO BAlE.(WHICH MAY NOT CONCERN YOU)I WORK FOR SOMEONE WHO HAD AN N6 AND 2 DIFFERENT 9500 AND RENTED A 9600 AND A 1660, AND DECIDE TO GO WITH A CIH, AND lOVES IT THE OTHERS, EXCEPT THAT THE9600 HAD MORE CAPACITY THAN OUR 2188. THERE JUST ISN'T AS MUCH TO WEAR OUT, AND WHEN THEY DO THEY ARE SIMPlE TO REBUIlD. I DON'T THINK YOU WOUlD BE DISSATISFIED WITH A RED COMBINE, I WAS RAISED AROUND M2 AND l3 GlEANERS AND I lOVE CASEIH COMBINES.
