I switched from an M3 to a 1460 in 2000, for about the same reason. The 1460 has a lot more capacity. The controls aren't as nice as an M3. I haven't had much problem with the 1460, yet. It doesn't like green stem beans at all. You can't get as much air to the sieves like a Gleaner. The bottom sieve is harder to remove, and get to to set. I've got a good IH dealer that has been helpful, to speed up the learning curve. This site is also very helpful. I like the fact as you rebuild you are also updating. A lot of the parts on a new combine will go on the older ones too.
