I have always had the 1 5_8" chaffer and top sieve until lately. Our new 2388 has the small sieve on the bottom and it is much better for cleaning the beans and corn. Don't be afraid to turn the fan faster than the book says, it is nearly impossible to blow grain over the long sieves.Unless its light!

In very dry conditions ( i.e. 12% ) the beans seem to be splitting at the book recommended 700 RPM rotor speed . We've been running it at 320 RPM and have had a very good sample until the beans get alittle tough , then we seem to get rotor thumping . My friend is running his '88 at 620 rpm and doesn't seem to have any problems. Our next challenge is adapting our 843 Deere head to the '88's feeder house.

I think more info is needed for a decent answer. How is your machine setupIJ Standard or specialty rotor, what kind of bars, concaves, grates ect. Any aftermarket ad-on's. How many hours on the wear parts. Are the blackbeans cut and windrowed or stumpedIJ
