Combines looking to find and restore combine

Hercules What say you'd be interested in an 82 massey HarrisIJ Currently it has a pick up plat on it but the original platform for it is close by. It has been shedded the last 13 years that we havn't used it. It has an aftermarket cab on it that can be removed and the tires are good and the engine runs. It needs a seal put in the motor but other than that you would not need to overhaul it....It runs fine. The platform for it is a grain plat so you would need to find a corn head somewhere's for it. WE put good used cylinder bars in it just before we parked it and it's a good machine...just to small and too old for our farming operation anymore. WE had put the pickup header on it as we set it up to use to harvest alfalfa seed. the paint isn't excellant but it's not a rust bucket like the one's you see in the tree row. All the paint is still there along with the massey harris logo and 82 sticker. I'm located in Northwest Kansas and I'll bet you could get it shipped to you in NY from a flatbed company that's needing a backhaul for cheap cheap rates.....To be honest when you get all done I'd bet you'd have less than 500 bucks in the entire process of getting it bought, delivered, and running. Making it pretty is up to you and that is when it will cost more. chew on it awhile and let me know Deerebines

Good luck with your search HerculesEngine! I work for a farmer in Washington state and He has restored a few John deere 2-cylinder tractors, a jd 33 pull combine, and has a few cat tractors that we like to play with .We worked on that 33 combine off and on for several years before it ran. It has a small Hercules engine on it which my boss had to overhaul. We get it out and play with it almost year. You can see a picture of me pulling it with a cat 30. Go to photograghs and look at Jim Marple's pics

I live in NE Ill (50 miles NW of Chicago)I've got a 1962 JD 55 with 12 ft platform which you can have for free. I just don't have the time to restore it myself, so I would like it to go to a good home. It's all there, but has been sitting outside so it is weathered. The engine is loose, but the trans is stuck in a forward gear. If you come and get it, it's yours. Either that or the salvage guy gets it as I want it out of the yard.

Hank, Hello, Tommy here. Was that Hercules Engine one of the hit and miss, single cylinder, open crankcase, twin flywheel engines with the water hoppersIJ I collect that kind of engine, also reffered to as a stationary engine (but with all the jumping they do when firing after holding the exhaust valve open (to govern itself),they are no where near stationary.) They go back to the mid 1800's up to the late 1930's (one went up to the 1970's, an Acadia!!; they must have been buddies with OSHA Thanks.

Wow, a choice between a red, red, and green combine. That's a toughy. Is this combine a two cylinder typeIJ If so, upright or horizontalIJ Due to it's age, I would assume it is a gasoline engine; diesel is early yet. Does it have a cab, or open cabIJ How much does it weighIJ Gear driven only transmissionIJ I have a choice between a MH super 26, a MH 82, or your JD 55. What are the trucking rates in your areaIJ Thanks.

Deerebines, Hello, Tommy here. I am very interested in this project. Is the engine diesel or gasoline fueledIJ Where does the seal need to be put in (the crank coming out of engineIJ) Because of the seal, does it have poor oil pressureIJ Would you need one of the headers to be left thereIJ I would like the original header, I am a semi- purist collector. Does it have a gear driven transmission, likely with a remote mounted shift lever and shifting cablesIJ How large, physically, would you say it is (height, width, length)IJ I will eventually come up with some more questions. Keep in touch. Thanks.

I am from Churchville. Our neighbor has a Case 1060 that has not been used in 16 years. It is in pretty good shape but has sat outside the entire time. During the 1991 ice storm that hit Rochester a tree branch came down on the reel and broke it. They have the corn head too and it was hardly used because they did not like how it handled corn. I talked to them at Thanksgiving about it but they did not want to sell it at that time. Also on my road there is an Oliver combine that has been sitting in a pasture since the late 70's. It is so covered with vines you can hardly see it. It would be a real project. Outside of Caladonia a farm has an old 1970's White that is no longer in use as they have a 7720 now. Up in Chili there is a John Deere 95 EB sitting out behind a farm. I am not sure what the story on it is. It has been there about 8 years now. Paint looks very good. What part of Western, NY are you fromIJ Drop me an e-mail if you have a chance at Webmaster@toytractorshow.com. Always good to meet some one in the area. Jason Hasert
