I agree, recheck timing even though you don't think you messed with, you probably did, also check you high and low rpm setting, you can find the spec's for this in the operator manual

we set the timing according to the manual to manual, i think it was adv 17 deg off TDC. am i right in thinking this is what you mean by timing . the high eng revs seem about right at 2510. i'll check timing hasn't changed and get back to you.i didn't mention that fuel pump is Am Bosch.after motor was done it refused to start and it was then we took out injectors and found 4 wouldnt open when press tested. i was worried that the pump may have been damaged with excessive pressure when cranking on the starter but didnt think more of it when seemed no prob with recond injectors. dont know if this alters your thoughts. thanks for your help.

Make sure you didnt put the injectors in backwards. The return line is toward valve cover. Its been done before.

In my book high idle is to be set at 2520-2640, low idle is 1150-1250 and the timing is 19 degres BTDC........ I have also seen the crankshaft dampner "shift" "slide" on it's rubber element so that the timing marks are in the wrong place, i think I lost a few nights sleep over it after doing an overhaul and we couldn't get it to even start, I rechecked the timing about ten times, pulled injectors, pulled valve cover and watch the valves move and the fuel spill from the injector line, I was about to the end of my rope and somehow we noticed a difference in the inside part of the dampner and the pully part, $500.00 later (installed new dampner) and reset the timing and poof she ran like a scalded dog.

Exactly, my dealer makes a point to replace the damper with any 670 with over 1000 hrs. He has had problems in the past with the damper sliding as much as 10 degrees off calibration. The 670T in my 8030 was 6 degrees off when overhauled several years ago with 4800 hrs on it.

If you have verified the timing. Go back to the injectors, don't know what recon. actually included, but have them flowrated to make sure that you are getting the correct n of CC's out of those babies. It don't matter what the pump is doing, if you can't get it in the cyl.

the dampener_harmonic balancer i have is a viscose type which i dont think can slip like older type with rubber.is this right IJ could a blown gasket b_w the intercooler and the head cause a drop in power that would be really noticableIJ i'm sort of thinking the gasket may have been damaged when we put it in and it ties in with low boost press.

Gasket is a possibility. The thickness of the intake gasket and coolant gasket right next to it was the same thickness when engine was built. Now the one they supply for coolant is twice as thick which can hold intake gasket from sealing toward front and will eventially blow. You would have to dissasemble intake manifold further than normal to use the thicker gasket for than as you tightened things togeter everything would seal up. A common thing for a unfamiliar guy to do with this engine is install the injecters 180 off. It makes me very curious why injectors would not allow fuel threw (that very likely damaged pump). Best way to be sure injector tips are right is to get new set right at Gleaner dealer.
