Rob We had a similar problem noticed it when using the electric reverser. If your machine has the reverser check the cable (12v+) running from the reverser motor up to where it goes through the cFrame (insulated post). I wire brushed the terminals and reassembled the cables. Disconnect battery before wire brushing. Hope this helps.

Being an electrical engineer I'd say, that your batteries are all right. As cleaning the connection helps, you must have found the problem already. You just can't keep them from getting dirty and corroded again. Have you tried any corrosion protection spraysIJ There is a red colored battery terminal spray made, that you can surely use on any other connection to protect it from corrosion. There is also a copper based antiseize made. It is rather expensive but it is the only antiseize you can use on electric connections. I have also seen the ends of the copper cable corroding inside the crimped on cable ends. Since CASE has so many connections from the batteries to the cab, there will be more trouble all the time. The most drastic solution is a new ground wire straight from the batteries into the cab. You have to use a highly stranded welding cable for that, to keep electrical resistance as low as possible.

this is the exact reason the Claas people laugh at CIH and say CIH will never be a serious threat on the high end combine market until they learn how to build a wiring harness. Of all trouble with my red machines 80% has been electrical related. Suppose there's anybody out there listening, ClaraIJ

WE had a similar problem with our 1660. Replaced alternators and batteries. after 7 years of frustration, we traced the problem to a very corroded cable between the two batteries. Designed as a one piece cable all the way between the reverser and the starter with the batteries in the middle, this was an expensive piece.
