loewen also offers the more aggessive looking feeder chain like Gleaners, with the deeper channel slats.

just skip the aftermarket chains and get the agco chain. it will cost a little bit more but will easily outlast and out perform the aftermarket chains. be sure and replace sprockets also........just my thoughts VSTK

I vote for the Manchester chain out of Oklahoma. The slats are heavier and have a unique feeding action. If the leading edge is powder hard surfaced it is truly superior. Be sure to get the heavy chain with the bigger pins. The less the chain stretches the longer the sprockets last. Changing sprockets isn't fun.

i hate to start an argument........but. The current chains from agco are 557 chain. that is as heavy a chain as can be run. the manchester chains may be heavy but the material is less than what i would call great, they wear with the older 550 chains. as for the wonderful feeding of that manchester......sounds good on paper.....not so good in all conditions in the field.that little extension that is supposed to accelerate material at back of chain also keeps material from entering very well.i have installed several agco 557 chains latley and they have come down in price and in the case of r40-r52, they have been less than aftermarket. just my thoughts......

We agree that 557 chain is the thing to have. I inherited a Manchester in a N7 and It worked in all my conditions. Isn't the Manchester slat of heavier material than the AgcoIJ Hard surfacing the leading edge makes it wear sharp and it grabs and feeds just as a sharp auger flighting does. I don't get the purpose of the ridges on the Agco slat. I would not replace servicable Agco with new Machester but it deserves a look. As to the flippers on the back I haven't stuck my head in there to look. Btw the Agco chain and slates in my 72 keeps the truck drivers from sitting around in the field so no real complaints there.

loewen also offers the heavier 557 chain with 1_2" fasteners and feeds as well as the Agco. You get the same performance for a realistic price.
