Combines M2 Feeder Beater Fingers

There is no easy way, short of swapping your feeder beater for a good one (yeah, right!) from the salvage yard. Have to completly disassemble. The cast finger holders ride on nylon sleeves and the fingers are loctited in place. Have to use heat to loosen the loctite, and heat will ruin the nylon sleeves. You probably cannot remove with an easyout without heating the cast part first and breaking the loctite bond. If your time is worth anything, you may be $$ ahead just buying new finger holders and speeding along your way. Probably one of the worst areas of a Gleaner to service IMO.

silverbean, I have had to remove many of these over the last 25 years for customers of mine. The center ones are tougher because it is hard to see them. You need to remove the guide for the finger you are working with and also the access covers on both ends. Clean all of the loose material from inside feeder beater. Get yourself a 1_2" washer and 1_2" nut or 5_8" washer and 5_8" nut depending on the size of your feeder beater finger.( Old style was 1_2" and new style is 9_16") Now comes the tricky part, you need to get the finger holder grounded, usually a vise grips works for this. Then hold your washer over broken off finger and weld the washer to the broken finger. Once you have washer welded then weld a nut to washer and use an extension and ratchet to remove broken finger. May take a couple of trys as it is hard to get the washer welded not being able to see it very well. This has not failed me yet and you don't ruin the nylon bushing because the intense heat is on the finger loosening the loctite. Good luck, Hyper Harvest II

Cut a piece of pipe that will fit the hole, taper and grind till it fits square, then weld through the center.Hopefully enogh heat to loosen the loctite.Usually the finger hits something to break. You can put a score mark in them,so if they break it will be at guide level or above.
