Had this problem last fall on our M2. Turned out to be a bad connection on the ground wire of sensor.

Check the fuel sediment bowl, if there is a slimey substance on the screen, or a jelly like substance in the bowl itself, there is bacteria in your fuel. local automotive store, has additives that can clear up the situation.

my m2 has had the fuel restriction light on since i've owned it the previous owner said don't worry about it engine rpm's run about 2470 under load
