so you saw a Gleaner ---Outstanding in it's Field!----- sorry couldn't resist. Hp is 120 or 145(rare) and is 301CI 2900 powerplant 6 cyl turbo or turbo intercooled. Bin is approx 180bu if it has the auto fold up bin extentions, '78 mods up. Will handle a 6 row 30" or 16-18-20' Grain head as this is what most came with. As to the tlc the basics should be ok, look close for the details, ie wear, corrosion due to grain_acid from standing outside.

By your post, your new to Gleaners. What area are you from and maybe one of us old timers can help you look it over. I owned one and loved the machine. Most are friendly and helpful on here.

I have never owned a Gleaner but I think that they look like good combines. I am from Chetek Wisconsin In the northern part of the state. I have a JD 4400 combine and would like something that can handle 6-30 corn head. I am not looking to buy a different combine anytime soon I need to make some $$ first. And there is not alot of $$ in farming right now. But Help would be appeated

Welcome to Gleaner Talk, fellow Wisconsinite. Helluva winter we've been having, ain't itIJ! I'm from down here near Hixton, Alma Center, and Black River Falls. There are a few others on here from this part of the state too. We'll help you out any way we can on the combine issues, but as for the $$$ thing, we're all in the same boat! Take care and enjoy the warmer weather the next few days! Tom langan

To answer some of your questions, I'm a little too far away for a look over of the machine, but since you own a 4400 JD, the M2 isn't quite as big as a 7720 but will give it a run for it's money with a 6-30 and mine walked away from the 6600_6620 JD's with 6-30 heads. The only time that the 66 series keeps up with the M series is in steep side hills and the JD is a "sidehill" machine, then even the 7700_7720's slow down with the M's. In my many years of owning the M2, nothing sticks out as ever being a problem with the machine over normal wear and tear, except the chopper blades got rounded and plug the walkers in soybean and caused hours of greif, pulling and tugging at green stems.
