I'm kind of thinking servo as well. I had a couple act similiar to this in the '80s. Servo is quite simple. Unbolt it from hydro after cleaning the area very well. With it unbolted you need to pull away from hydro a bit so you can remove E-ring that hold a pin in place. Remove pin and set on table. Now look at fork lever and you'll see a weld that holds sleeve to fork. This may have been little more than a spot weld and could of broke lose on you. You can also wiggle the fork still in hydro to see the bolt that hold it on are not loose. The little cylinder that is fastened to servo has a piston in it that may have an oring seal that has started to leak (if it is teflon seal it is likely OK). Check orfice that the small hose is hooked into to be sure nothing is stuck in it. Be carefull upon reassembly to get fork meshed with pin. Also be careful upon startup should the machine want to take off a running. Good luck

Thank you, Dan. Turned out to be loose draw bolt on hydrotraction drive belt tightner. Belt never squealed or smoked, don't know why we couldn't diagnose something so obvious sooner. Guess I'm a victim of hydrostatic paranoia - assuming that the worst may have happend and overlooking the simple fixes.
