we (our dealership)spent two seasons figuring out what was wrong with an l hydro. swapped hydro with a used one and after a short time it wouldn"t move. the oil was getting HOT because someone repaired the twin radiator with a cooler in the top and never hooked it up inside. with a radar temp gun the oil temp only dropped 1 degree.

I have thought about the oil getting too hot but it never seemed to be all that hot. The other thing is that I wouldn't have figured that the transmission would stop working because the oil is too hot. I know that the oil thins out when it gets hot but I didn't know that it directly affected the transmission pump, especially when every thing else works fine. I will definitly look into this before I spend a couple grand and I could be back where I started like you were saying. I really appreciate the help, I've worked around a gleaner C2 all my life but we just got the M2 and the only thing I know about the hydro unit is what is in the operater's manual about running the level 3_4 of the way back or forth or better to get the maximum performance.

you have a problem that needs to be taken care of by someone who knows hydrostatic transmissions. Else you are in for a real long learning curve... to my knowledge there is no "seal" that will let oil return to the reservoir. It is bypassing the sealing surfaces on the heads or rotating group "i.e. 'milkers'" A unit not stopping indicates a problem in the servo mechanism possible due to shavings. A bent fork on the shuttle could be due to the allen head bolts loose on the retainer...again bunch of possiblities...

I looked into it some more today and I think buckeyegleaner is right. I ran it around today and it ran fine until it got the oil got hot. I checked it with a thermometer and it said the oil was around 175 degrees, I don't know if that is too hot but all I know is that when it got this hot it wouldn't function. later tonight when the sun went down the thing ran like it was brand new.
