just traded 962 to 972 this spring but used 962 for all crops you mentioned. had none of the options you talked about , just plain 962 with bat reel. used Claas vine lifter for the peas and adjusted reel stops to prevent from hitting. sometimes, depending on height of pea straw we had to tilt our header more to cut closer. our new headers have the J cutterbar which cuts closer than the 962's hope this helps

Hi Guys We had a Macdon 960 and then switched to a 972. We used it to swath and straight cut. The only concern we had with the 972 was that the height at the back of canvas was lower on the 972 and we had trouble when we were swathing canola getting it out the hole. We put one of macdon's augers on the header and this helped. We did not have any trouble with the 972 header when we were straight cutting. We now use the JD 930 draper headers and they work pretty good too. Only things are they are heavy (good or bad in the long run I don't know) and we had to put the poly skid shoes on when we were cutting low crops to help reduce pushing dirt. Talk to you later.
