Combines Macdon draper on 9600IJ

We have run 962's on our 9610s and loved them. You will be able to go as fast with a 36' draper as you go with a 30' rigid. This is how much a draper enhances the feeding and therefor the combine capacity. Go with the 36', you will love it. We ran the 962's for three years now and have cut quite some soybean acres. I don't see any reason to buy the more expensive 972. The 962 has bigger gauge wheels and therefor goes over pivot tracks and other things a lot nicer. I would consider a finger reel for your application. The weight is no problem for a 9600. The 962 is lighter than the 972 and a lot lighter than a twelve row corn head. For soybeans I recommened the hydraulic adjustment for the header pitch. You have to sacrifice the hydr. reel for-after. But I never felt like needing it.

We ran 960's then 962's and last year we ran 972's. I dont believe the 962 would cut low enough for your beans but it would be close. the 972 with the drop knife will cut as low as you want. only difference between the two is lower knife, 972 is heavier, and 972 has all greasable bearings on the rollers, there a few little things different too but not much. we only run 30 feet as for 32foot gates and sometimes we have very heavy straw. we used the 962 on 9600 and sts, 972 was on sts this year

Yes, the 962 goes all the way to the ground. One fall we did 700 acres of soybeans and I cut closer to the ground than the neighbor with the row head. When you touch the dirt with the knives, that should be close enough.
