Combines macdon on 7720

I ran into a problem with a MacDon on a 9500 Deere which may be the same as what you are experiencing. Material was being dragged around the rear of the centre draper stopping it regularly and even burned a hole in the canvass. My dealer was at a loss for a solution and finally I was fortunate in talking to someone from MacDon who came up with an answer. As he explained with the 9500 (don't know if the 7720 is the same width) the feeder is narrower than the 9600 which the adapter will also fit. Because the center draper is wider than the opening in the combine feeder any material that is on the outer edges has no place to go but try to go around with the draper and as it lodges in the corners more hangs up and plugs. The solution in my case was to cut out the lower portion of the shields on the front of the feeder house, these are the ones that make the feeder width narrower. Once I had the feeder opening the full width of the feeder chain no more problem. Sorry for the long winded explanation, hope this helps.
