Combines Main Drive Belt l2 Gleaner

As I recall, it's not that hard to change, but the l2 should have a three groove belt on it for the main drive belt as well as the hydro drive belt. Take care to get your idler pulley lined up so the belt isn't deflected to the side and adjust the tension according to the operators manual and you should get lots of acres out of it. Good luck!

The belt is not too bad as long as the machine is a hydro mine is a gear drive and it is not very fun because you have to take the drive belt loose. On the hydro it is about a 30 min job and you should not have a problem with it. As was said make sure and get the idler lined up and make sure the bushings and brgs in it are strait so the belt is not getting tichtened unevenly. Good luck Brent

on a hydro use a come-a-long to raise the hydro idler to release tention. Take nuts off the upper main idler adjusting bolt on main drive Unscrew brush holder on the end. On a variable speed spread the lower pulley and use a nut to block open. Back off idler and loose the hyd hose to release tention and now you can slip the main belt under the traction drive and roll it off and out.

Isn't it great to have a machine that is engineered for quick and easy repairsIJ Just a simple machine, not like the red and green ones. jl

Thanks guys for the help. Now I just have to get at it and do it. We've run Gleaners since the 60's, they are great machines. We are trying to make them last forever, it seems.
