I have a 800 header with the same problem. The skids are bent down on the far edges and it is sliding alot. My Dad and I made some clips that bolt to the gaurd they hold the corners up tight but they take alot of flex out. That solved one probem but created another. We would also like some sugestions.

I wonder if anyone has fastened the poly skids to worn skids. I wouldn't want to run one of these machines without the poly both for wear and anti push. I would set springs for minimum ground pressure to help reduce wear or bending or pushing.

Poly skids didnt make any difference for us. But then we always store the bean head off the ground so steel skids dont get a heavy coating of rust. Setting ground pressure can be tricky; too light causes skids to ride up on bean stubble and slightly more pressure causes pushing. There has to be a better way. I havent been able to find a happy medium where the sickle cuts close on hard ground without pushing dirt in soft ground. Tom in MN
