Combines Major drought in Australia

James With some slight relief in Kansas last year and major variance this past year we have been caught up in a 7 year drought. It doesn't hold true for the entire U.S.A. as there are places that still cannot complete harvest for contiuing rainfall. I hear the suicide rate among farmers in Australia is very high recently because of your drought. It brings back alot of memories for some when the farm economy was in the toilet in the 80's here in the u.s.a. Sometime back I found a map doing a google search that showed the drought stricken region of the usa. A little hunting you might be able to find it too and give you a better idea. From what I've read south dakota plainly just burned up this year. They are in desperate need of moisture. Mother nature at her finest.

I live in Western Kentucky, USA. We have just had one of the Wettest October,s in History. Done harvesting Corn, about half done with the Soybeans. Not harvesting today because of rain. Sure wish We could share some with You Guy,s. It,s a shame some Farmers has to suffer for the Others to get better pricing but thats the way its always been seems to Me. Hope Ya get some rain soon. Consider yourself lucky to even have a crop to harvest. We "normally" grow both winter and summer crops as well as run cattle. We have not turned a wheel since our below average wheat harvest last year because of the drought. Cattle are all but gone... 40 years of breeding down the tube, and currently look like missing our third summer crop and there is no chance of planting anything at the moment. Suxs to be us huh!

I really feel for your northern farmers, as us West Vic farmers have had a fairly good run the past few years. Hopefully the wheel will turn, and you guys have another crack at it. I'm sorry to hear about your cattle. As a livestock person as well, you can't buy back 40 years of breeding in a hurry. Good luck to you for 07!
