They are cramped. What is the problemIJ does the clutch need adjusting or is it slipppingIJ You have to really squeeze behind the cab to get to the adjustment mechanism it is farily easy to do just getting in and out is a problem. Or do you need to replace the clutch. I ran a 550 for 16 years and approx 2400 hours replaceed the clutch once. mine was a belt drive. We hired a techncain to replcae the clutch. You might be able to go to a dealer and copy the sections from the tech manual. If you need to adjust the clutch the best way is one person squeeze into the space with one small phillips screw drive and a straight blade screwdriver. Push the pin in with the phillips and then with the stright blade push the ring to the next notch on the the clutch plate. I usally did this once a season some times in wheat and milo.

Don't feel bad scooter I too have a 550 and I think I have had that clutch out of it 4 times.last fall it went out again, I let the dealer fix it that time.I just got sick of fighting with that big drive pully in that little hole.Dealer told me it was over greased,I am so afraid the bearings going out I over greased it and pushed the seals out.(you just can't win) Good luck Tom

Thanks for the tips Tom. I think I've got the problem solved (hopefully). The shaft on which the bearings of the separator clutch rides was worn down badly. That let the pulley run crooked which in turn wrecked the friction disc.Instead of pulling out the shaft to repair it, which would have taken forever,I built up the shaft while still in place with a mig welder, grinder, files, emery cloth and a Whole lot of patience. The pulley_clutch seems to be working Ok so far but I'm not sure about it in the long run. But now the transmission is locked in first gear. You are right you can't win with a 550.
