OK head if you like adjusting for wheat you set it ridgid and lift the reel two holes and for beans drop it.Seam's we never get reel close enough even if we are cutting off finger's.Advice is buy it so cheap you can put an air reel on it. I believe that would be the cure to every grain table out there.

IJ on why a 8570 not a 8560 or 8780.If you want a machine for the new type head's get the 8780.If you want to save dough get a 8560.We run an 8 row and 20ft head on our's getting along fine has small cummin's over 3200hrs. on it.Only 6gal. fuel an hour tryed the 8570 could only go 1_4 mile an hour faster in good corn and was useing 9 gal. fuel an hour.last year I saw a 8560 with an old 1144 corn head on it and laughed all day long. You just can't run old head's on rotor combines not built to do the job.I Know if you rebuit everything on the head you possibly could but you could have bought a newer head then too.All I see is you have the right idea getting a massey rotory once you get used to the ease of one you wonder what took so long to leave the conventionals behind.

thanks for the input. What air reel do you suggestIJ Also, do you feel the U-2 reel is better than the reel used on the white 920 headIJ I am not sure who built the white reels. Some had the wooden batt with the steel tine and others had the metal teardrop type batt with the plastic tines. Regards JW

I had a 1986 8570 that had the 240 HP engine and a neighbor had a 1982 with the smaller engine. The difference came in capacity when in small grains, more straw to contend with. He always complained that he needed more HP. I went to 8780 XP and am happier than ever with the decision to stay with the Massey rotor.

Yes the air reel is great on soybeans and does OK on wheat. I have a Crary and am impressed with it in soys, wheat it is OK but not the total answer. My Crary has the finger reel on the outside of the air jets. No major maintance problems with it.

So far we have been happy with our 8560, primarily used to cut beans and sorghum. One of the most reliable pieces of equipment we own regardless of the paint color.
