I would say you already have a good combination with the small wires and keystock grates. However, you could get a little more seperation by pulling every other wire out of the third concave to simulate a large wire. Most of the threshing is done in the first two concaves anyway, so as long as you don't overload the shoe you might cut your rotor loss a little.

We use the 'Gordon touch'. First concave is large wire with cover plates. 2cd concave is small wire, 3rd is large wire. Trying to save the straw we use two smooth pan grates , using a keystalk grate in the last position,and of course we have a set of 'Gordon bars' installed.We also run a Peterson sieve (not reccommended for high yeilding corn)that gives great sample. Works for us.

Good to hear from you again! It's been a long winter and I was really looking forward to a great spring. I guess we demand too much out of mother nature. We just finished my own corn on Saturday but still have a little custom to do. Worked my bean ground a little too wet so now I'm waiting for a little rain before I get started planting. Started to spray some early planted corn which is really taking of, 3-4 leaf it's time to eat a little spray drift to clear out the winter bugs housed in my lungs. I have seen your friend useless on Saturday replanting some corn across the Hwy down here. If you get to see him before I do, ask him if he was trying to do a little smoke show with his planter. It looked like his tires locked up on him. Before I go I thought I would take some pressure off of you by increasing all my custom work rates this year. Fuel prices have gone sky high and it's really going to hurt once the wheat season starts. REGARDS, NDB.
