Combines Measuring accelerator roll wear and rotor bar wearIJ

If you can easily drop a pencil down thru between the acc. rolls, we find it usually pays to replace them. Our experience is that there are substantial and increasing grain losses over the sieves after the wear on the acc. rolls exceeds this gap. Can't comment on the helicals as we have only a moderate amount of wear after 1800 separator hours. Cheers!

Thanks, I'll keep my pencil handy. Haven't seen any uneven wear on the helicals, but I had nothing to compare to new as we bought the machine with 750 seperator hours.

Southpaw, Channel helical bar new height is 5_8". If channel helical bar wear is approaching 1_2" you will start to notice some rumbling take place if machine is hyperized. If machine is stock and already has the rumble you will start to get the earthquake effect. Cylinder bar tooth height on a chrome bar is also 5_8" when new. Most of your wear will show up on row two in a R52. On the R62-72 you will see wear show up between row two and row three. We replace cylinder bars when there is a noticable difference in tooth height as material will usually flow to that widest spot. Hope this helps, Hyper Harvest II

Thanks Hyper Harvest II for the information. This sight and all the help you guys provide is so valuable. I'll get into measuring as soon as we finish harvesting this soggy wheat crop, hopefully before it sprouts.
