The reason for this uneven airflow is because your fan draws it's air from the sides - which is why there is more airflow on the sides of the shoe. Gleaner's transverse flow fan cured this problem - they draw air across the full width of the fan. Most of the newer combines have copied this concept in one way or another to cure this. The various Airflow chaffers are designed to eleviate this also by evening out the pressure across the chaffer. Good luck-
