410's were good combines. I used to have a 410 Diesel with a 13 ft beanhead and it would do a real nice job. What scares me is that you said your machine is a non quick tach. I used to have a 510 non quick tach and changing heads was NO FUN. Also I think it will be hard to find a good non quick tach corn head as the last one was made in 1967. Maybe you can find a 410 quick tach that is being parted out and get the feeder house and both heads and convert you machine. If you are not sure how good your machine is and don't want to spend alot of money on it, why not use it with your grainhead on your beans, oats or whatever and hire your corn done until you find out how good your machine is. Or maybe you will find a nice quick tach machine with heads and you can sell yours. Hope this rambling gives you some ideas you can use.

To chang over to Quick tach, all you have to do is find a QT feeder house from another 410 machine. You then cam mount any MF qt head.Check out the salvage yards in your aera. I think a 540s feerer house might be the same as an 410, but not sure Joe

KornKurt Do you remember what diesel engine was in your 410IJ I need a perkins 318 engine and would like to pick up a good working combine and a parts machine to donate the engine for a tractor. Right now I'm looking for a 540 but would rather have a 410 if it has the 318 in it. TIA Merle

Merle: My 410 had a 302 Perkins, the same as a Super 90. I have a 1080 with a 318 in it and it looks alot like the 302. If the 540 is as big a POS as everybody says, you should be able to find one worth the money. Where are you locatedIJ I'm in central Iowa, if I hear of one I could let you know if you are close.
