I may be wrong but i would doubt that this engine is much over 70 Hp so it would be a poor replacement. If a six cylinder perkins will do they are often available at many combine breakers the 6 cylinder 354 is normally rated at 105 HP at 2000 revs

Thanks, I figured it would probably be too small but a neighbor had suggested it might work. Since this is a weekend I am having no luck contacting my Hagie sprayer people or the Cummins engine people, although the Onan engine is very likely obsolete. My sprayer parts book shows a Perkins T4.236 engine as an option.

Purple Pride The 410 has a A4.302 (non turbo) engine in it, same as a super 90. This engine will work it's heart out all day long (it will give you every bit of rated hp and then a little bit more) and only sip a little fuel. Parts are hard to find but it almost never breaks down. If you need a bigger engine find a 510 diesel (A6.354) good engine and very easy to get parts for. Good luck Merle

I beleive that Onan has been taken over by Cummins, might be worth a try to contact Cummins and talk with them and see if they can offer you any ideasIJIJIJ

Could a turbo be added to the 410 engine or is that hard to doIJ If it is rated to run at 2000 rpm is it possible to run it as fast as 3000IJ I am not sure how fast I have to spin the Sundstrand hydrostat but the two listed engines were rated at 2850 and 3000 at high idle. I'm not sure if the 510 engine would fit but I will check tomorrow. Thanks.

I just looked at a MF 410 salesbook. The 302.2 Perkins was rated at 95 HP. The combine was also avalible with a hydro. Dont know if it was a Sun. but you could get a hydro on it.

Did you notice at what rpm the engine was ratedIJ Would a naturally aspirated 95hp engine have any reserve power advantage that the 105hp turbo Onan 6cyl might notIJ The Onan fast idles at 3000rpm.

It did not say at what RPM for the 410 or 510. If I had to guess I would say not much over 2200 RPM that is what our 540 is with the 318 cid. 4 cyl. Perkins. As far as a power reserve advantage over the Onan. Its hard to say but I always thought that Perkins had good low end power. Maybe better than the little six.
