Combines MF 83 cornhead

I believe this was one of the nice updates of the 1100 series corn heads. They had grease fittings on the bottom rear of the snapping roll gearboxes. I can't remember ever having to repair one. I suppose if you could find this position by looking on another head, you could drill out and install a fitting. Otherwise you need to disassemble to fill with grease. Have seen several of these older gearboxes fail, probably for this reason.

You Remove one of the bolts that hold the snapping rolls to the gearbox. There should be a 5_16 or 3_8 bolt (not sure what size) right between, and below the snapping rolls. You can unscrew the tip off your greas gun, and stick the end of the hose(I have a hose on my greasgun) in the hole, and pump away. Joe

Yupp, It is a 5_16 bolt, and I have an electric grease gun and works slick. Thanks for the idea!
