Combines MF 8780XP front beater feed plate

It's going to be a while before I can get to the combine, Neil. I've put one season through the machine, so I'm not sure how evident the wear would be (if it is an issue). I wouldn't think it would take much time or $ to go ahead and put in a wear plate while your machine is apart. Couldn't hurt anything, and might save a big headache down the road.

Sounds like the frt beater in an 8570. A freind of mine has one with 3K hrs on it and has worn the same area clear through same as you describe. looks to me like you could bolt a slab of 3_8" UHMW on there and not ever replace the steel. GS

Not a bad idea to use the plastic, but can you find it with a 90 degree bend in it so that it would wrap into the stone trap. This would give it the good leading edge that is required. We just wonder how common this problem is. My uncles MF 8570 had over 3500hrs_5yrs and no wear that caused any trouble like this.

In the last three years I have replaced the front feed section for the rotor on about 25 8570's and 8780's. we remove the rotor and have a piece rolled andwelded in both top and bottom right over excisting pieces.we also hard surface the high wear areas.the welding andhard surfaceing is cheaper then haveing to tear front end all apart to replace, plus you end up with thicker metal then oem pieces.
