Combines MF205 Grain in fan

Never seen a MF205, but assume that the bottom of the fan throat, as in most machines, is next to the clean grain auger trough. Most times this is a case of either the clean grain elevator not efficient enough to carry material away quickly or a clean grain auger which is worn badly enough that grain piles up on it. In either case grain will roll over into the fan throat when it's piled high enough.

I had this probelm with my MH80SP (1956 vintage) a couple of years ago. It turned out to be the clean grain auger_elevator system wasn't removing the grain as fast as the combine was thrashing it. After straigtening the auger flights, and replacing the elevator chain and paddles, I still had the problem. Finally I put new friction disks, and springs on the slip clutches for both clean grain and returns and refaced the clutch plate surfaces. My problem disappeared.

Thanks for the thought - That hadn't occured to me. The combine is old enough that just about anything could be worn out.

Thanks for the input. I have no idea if the 205 has a slip clutch for the clean grain auger_elevator, but I'll check it out and see. BTW - Wher are you locatedIJ I've never seen a MH80SP.

My MH80SP was built in 1956 by Massey Harris Ferguson, as it was then called. At the time they called their tractors Massey-Fergusons and their combines Massey-Harris. The 80 is the model number, and the SP stood for special, as it was the first model of the 80 series that utilized sealed bearings which very significantly reduced the number of grease fittings. I'm located near Tottenham Ontario Canada, about 30 miles north of Toronto.
