Combines MF4840

I have three a 4840 and two 4880's.The 4840 is 265 eng. hp and 4880 320 the 4900 375. I have put lots of hours on these tractors,the one I got new in 1981 has 15000 hours.The motor is original except for fuel pump,injecters,and just did the turbo for the first time.I put new bearings and seals in the transmission at 10000 hours cost $4,000 parts I did the work.The gears and clutch still looked new.Put new bearings in the front axel at 8000 hours $700 parts. I have not done any thing to the rear end.The 903 is a GREAT motor if you take care of the ANTIFREEZE. I could talk about these tractors for hours feel free to give me a call 1 509 525 6827 Steve

I have also run one since 1981.It is the best investment we ever made in a piece of equipment.There is quite a few around so try to wait for a really good one, you wont be dissapionted.The 4800 and 4840 can be tuned up to 300 hp and the 4880 can go to 375 pretty easy.Ive havnt had much to do with 4900 903,different cam i think. anyways,best of luck.

the 4800 and 4840 can be turned up to 300hp with no problems, the 4880 and 4900 have a lot more power because they are turbocharged, they also use more fuel, the 4880 is 325hp, if it is turned up to 375-- beware-- the 4900 which is made for 375hp has a radiator that has more cores and the fan has more blades which provides more cooling capacity-- which is needed with the extra power, otherwise you may end up with some overheating problems,otherwise a very good tractor.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your response. Here in central Il these tractors are pretty scarce. A '79 4840 sold at a farm auction Saturday for 10,000 dollars. It looked good and had only 3027 hrs. but it was the first one I've ever seen and I couldn't quite pull the trigger. I've seen one or two in dealers ads I think I'll go have a look.
