Did your dad's 410 have the chevy 6 banger gasser in itIJ I can remember my dad telling stories about the chaff building up on the exhaust manifold and smoldering during wheat harvest. I can only remember one time that we got pretty excited and everyone was running over with water jugs in hand to douse a flame. It's a wonder we didn't ever lose that jewel under the same circumstances your dad lost his. Been told to me that the 550 is just a glorified 510. I don't know much about the machine but I would think that if your in the market for a newer combine now....more modern than the 410 anyways.....and your looking for an older massey the 750's that were in the same age bracket as the 550 would more than likely be the way to go. I would expect about the same money on either machine and you will have increased your capacity and there are just oodles of parts in salvage yards for 750's....550's I'd tend to think that's another story. Where you locatedIJ My old man has a 750 that we have not used for 2 years now because we upgraded and the 860 he replaced it with was bought on an auction so we couldn't trade. Not to mention the fact, we tried running 3 combines one year and we just didn't have enough manpower to do it so we upgraded another combine (mine) to a bigger one and just run the two. I'm in Northwest Kansas and if you'd like to discuss it my email addy works. Take care
