Gleaner Guy, In 1958 my Dad bought a 26 Massey that was two or three years old and loaded it on a 49 Chevy truck and went to Medford, Oklahoma to do some custom harvesting. I was twelve years old and Dad took me along to drive the combine while he hauled the wheat. What an experience for a twelve year old kid! I think I cried every time Dad made me get off the combine for a while to go take a nap in the truck. As to the vintage of the combine you saw, one noticable change they made on the 26 Massey during it's run, the early ones had the steering wheel comming streight up from the operator platform. After the first few years they angled the steering wheel back a little making it much easier to steer. By the way I'm still following by Dad's foot steps has a custom harvester. I've done that every year since 58 except for the two years I was in service. Merry Christmas everyone! K.A.
