Combines Michelin Flotation tires

We have the big Michelins on one machine. They are great tires, and they will let you run on very wet ground. I've run in wheat ground that you could not only stick your heel in, but push your whole foot into. We've cut beans through standing water on loam ground, but of course you could never do it on clay or gumbo because it's too slick. Unfortunately, they are quite expensive. By the time you buy the axle extensions and 3 piece rims you should count on about $11,000 for the front only. On our second machine we decided to go a more economical route and split the factory rims to 30" and used the 900_60-32 Trelleborgs. Both machines can be run at about 12 psi when it's really muddy. The Michelin has the floatation advantage and the Trelleborg has the traction advantage. I think I will flip the Trelleborgs around and run them backwards to get more float next time it gets muddy. You don't have to split the rims, but it helps get the face of the tire flat. The Trelleborgs should be about $4300 a pair.

Ripped, I have some flotation tires mounted on rims that I ran this fall in some mud. They got me throught one or two very muddy fields. The way the rims are made you do not need extentions or anything. They bolt right on and you're ready to go. I also have some duals that are mounted on rims and will bolt right on without any axle extentions. I will sell either set for about half of what was quoted to you in the other post. Email me and I can send you some pictures if your interested. That's my email address above. K.A.

Thanks for the advice! I just returned from my Michelin tire rep. and have purchased the 900_60-32 MegaX. Yes it's a pile of money but to leave the corn and look at it all winter will make me sick. The reason I went with the 900's is that there is now no need for a rim change. We already had the 3" axle extension in place so it was simply remove the 30.5 and replace with the 900. Traded my 30.5 with about 50% on these and cost $6400 Can. differance installed. What a big diff. between the firestone and the 900 on wet ground. Thank You all for the advice!!!!

Congrats on your purchase! I think you will really like the Michelins. The floatation is great and the ride is so smooth. The 900 is a pretty new tire, introduced in May of 03 I think. It should wear great and you can just move them to the next machine if you trade.
