Do you have a lot of terracesIJ We have both a 30' and 36' 974 and in my experience I prefere the 30' for flexing. Can't bet width for getting across the field but we just seam to have beter luck with the smaller head. Our terraces are farely steep also.

We bought the our first one (30') 3 years ago this Oct. and then last July bought the 36'. Absolutly love the headers. We have fights over who is going to have to run the one remaining auger head. When you cut beans make sure you have the float optimizer set right and its a dream. If you cut wheat it takes a little getting use to it. You have to let the header work a little, don't be afriad to let it rub on the ground, it will float, BUT its not a bulldozer either (rookie story for later). Forget buying the transport kit, use that money to buy a good header trailer like a M-D or Mauer. But if you cut wheat the guage wheels are nice to have.

We don't do any wheat (thankfully) And it does have gauge wheels on it....Do we need them in our caseIJ Also to run the lets say pitch of the header do you have to run a switch seperatly up into the cab of the 2388IJIJIJ Also we will get a 3rd lift cylander and probably a weight rack on the back axel.. Also we are tradeing header trailers and i think they are unverferth (they look really good) can't be any worse than the one we had lol

One of the issues you may have to deal with if you are no-till is spreading the residue on the right side of the 36 foot model. If you ran 1020's your parts(guards and such) for your old 1020's will NOT work on the new model. Make sure you know what dealer stocks major parts(drapper belts) for them before you need them. Good luck

If you all you are cutting is crops like beans or peas don't get the gauge wheels. All you will do is lock them up where they don't get used. The tilt or pitch of the header is controled by the hyd reel for_aft line with a slector switch in the cab. I've been around a unverferth header trailer and they don't hold a candle to a MD trailer. If all you are wanting to do is have one to store it on the Unverferth may be heavy enough but remember that the 36' weighs almost 9,000n with adaptor and transport kit. So if you want to go down the highway with a $45,000(list w_ options) header on a lighter trailer just to save a few bucks, good luck. (not saying you are, just have heard that agument before). You will enjoy running the header.

Bought my flex draper last year. Runs like a dream. I agree with the others. You only need gauge wheels if you do wheat. I have an Unverferth trailer and it works fine. Make sure you order the brackets made for the draper head with the trailer. They make it much easier to load. Also, the head should come with a wiring harness for the switch in the cab. You will fall in love with the ability to change the cutterbar angle in soybeans.

Rocker switch that installs in one of the blanks at the top of the side console. Run the wires from the headerin through two open holes in the field tracker harness in the side of the cab. Its a pretty easy circuit to make up, and can be done quite cleanly.
