Thanks Tom. I think we'll try the 800 head by itself without this Mod. We don't raise any doule crop beans so our 1st crops are usually waist high or taller. Even still if I find a good section of this hose I might throw it on and try it for the heck of it. Thanks for the info. Mike

Tom: Your answer brings up a IJ from us old combine users. Will this Hose mod thing work_help for the really old heads. I have a 12 foot ridgid head on a 1970 K that has Tiger jaws on it. It sounds too easy too be true. Thanks Keith

I just want to back up Tom by saying that if you can get pass the fact that it sounds utterly ridiculous to most people, It really works!!! I have an older style head for a M2 and I used a smaller tube about 2" pvc pipe and I never heard the cylinder choke once the entire time. This simple mod saved us time, fuel, wear and tear, and headaches. I just wish I knew of this mod before. My two cents, Curt

I don't know why it wouldn't work on the older heads too. Are you having trouble with crop piling up on the cutterbar with the rigid headIJ There have been times in the past when we've been tempted to switch to our rigid header to cut really short beans because they're typically better at feeding. And remember - Just do it!! Tom

We put the hose on our head this year and it really works great. I was tired of replacing fingers on the reel. I got the 3" suction tubing from a sprayer supply company here in east central Nebraska called Schaben Industries and I think I paid around $4.00 a foot. Never had any problems with it.

The head is at the right angle (tilted down so far) that really short stalks get cut off and then just seam to float back over the front and fall on the ground. Just about as frustrating to watch as when a big ear of corn from a nice tall stalk pops up off (rebounds off) the stripper plates and flies over the side of the corn head. This year was better. Had better beans (36 Bu ave) that stood taller. Also I had upgraded my Tiger Jaws. I added the new adjustable hold downs and put the old style on all the other positions. That makes a small ridge that I thought would hold the beans in. I guess that is like the smaller Diameter tube. Just not enough to make them flip over. Thanks Keith
