Combines minimum tilage

Just my opinion, but I think you would be better to just use the combine to harvest the grain and use another machine to process, chop or shred up the straw. But if you must run all the straw through the combine then I suspect a combine such as the Claas lexion or NH CX series with tined separators and walkers would be your best bet. I think CIH has a "cross-flow" or something in the EU. Winding all that damp straw through a rotor is going to take a lot of power and be tough to do.

Why can't you harvest higher, then come back after and cut the stubble lower..IJ Why does it have to be 5cm or less..IJ Seems odd to me but i have no idea of your conditions. Maybe you could tell us more about your idea of what Minimum Till is..

In Europe we haw a very strict regulations on chemicals usage, so we need a straw not any longer as a 5cm so bacteria can process it. To maintain a moisture we have to run a tiller same day after the harvesting. This is thy some times is better to run more material throe the harvester as to have to many tractors in the field at the time. I used to work in Oregon We had a JD WTS and IH AF it was ok for all possible situations. But back in North Europe weather conditions are completely different.

Thank you. I it is very good answer. We need a straw not any longer as a 5cm so bacteria can process it. CX does it very well. Bu using 80 120hp for chopping and spreading. So we are using a CASE CT 5080 (same think as NH TX 68) To maintain a moisture we have to run a tiller same day after the harvesting. But anyhow conditions some times are so bad so we just going back to plow.

We are using mulch-tiller_ airseeder system in Scotland where we have similar problems with damp harvest conditions and green straw. In my opinion there is no argument: you get maximum output from your combine when conditions are right by taking in the minimum ammount of MOG (material other than grain) then mow the stubble. If you are going to combine short you need all the horsepower the newest lexion 580 can muster. If not you get a lot more ouput for your money from an Axial Flow. Mowing at an angle to the chopped combine swaths also evens straw distribution especially at bout ends. ps. I would be interested to visit you in the summer on my way home from Russia
