There was one that burned 3 miles west of me last year on a very hot and very windy day, you could see smoke and flames from where I was, I don't know what happened, but the cab was untouched, from there back is toast. I took some pictures of it. I hope that never happens to my 7720.

Are you for real or is this just a stunt to get people to not buy John Deere. If your for real you had better check the reds ones out real carefull before you ins. one. Had three local red combines burn last fall 2388 a 1680 and a 1666. And the fall before that I no of two a 1660 and a 1440.

The fire problem IS real. I have alot of experiance with it and have figured out the cause and prevention measures for it. in 2001 we had 5 out of seven machines burn, one completely and the others repairable.

Is this the same guy that has got the NH pheasant feeding seeders combines, talking about JD. I'd take what he has to says with a grain of salt.

I have seen several 9000 series combines in salvage yards that have had fires. I also see all other colors there too. All combines have the potential to burn. leaks of fuel, oil, bearings failing, not keeping the engine and hydro areas clean contribute to it. Sometimes it is just plain bad luck. I do not think that Deere or any other make has any major problems that I have ever seen.
