Don't have any peas hear but I think I can compare to edible beans. Peas are likely more durable if 520 don't split many. I would say setting are close. If it is extremely tough you might want tighter concave clearance to such material in and get it moving. If to many splits you will need to slow up cylinder. If you can't slow up cylinder without it rumbling you will need to flow the tough material better ( If P3 you could consider rotor sweeps, shimmed flat helicals or channel helicals if P1, no reverse bars, ect.) Any style of helicals should be in good condition to flow tough straw at super low clyinder RPMs. Any particular problems you are tring to iron outIJ

No real problems, just getting used to it! Blew the rock trap open a few times, but have that pretty well under control. I am getting a few splits but not too bad. I have a weed control problem, lots of wild buckwheat. Perhaps I should decrease the concave clearance as you suggest and try slowing the rotor speed. Trying another variety tonight, a forage pea called Magnar 4010. SOmebody has to grow the seed for the hay growers... It is a smaller diameter and tougher so we will see. Thanks for the tips! One thing, though... where are you located in NDIJ Just curious! Tom

Trap door latch is adjustable. If it is opening because of bad slug it may be well to leave it. What will usually what open it is the crop that come around cage and helicals didn't move over. Slowing cylinder may cause door to bother more. If slowing cylinder causes rumbling you may be better off with fast cylinder speed. Rumbling cause splits also. So you need to find what works best (faster or slower cylinder speed). Hard to believe but closer concave gap is ussually better. Other than that you need to move straw over better weather it is with helicals being used or rotor sweeps. We are in NE corner of ND. About 30 miles from Canada and 20 miles from Minnesota. Good luck
